The County Treasurer is an elected position serving a four year term.  The Treasurer and staff are dedicated to serving the citizens of Mahnomen County by offering the best possible service in all statutory and assigned duties.

Real Estate and Personal Property Tax Administration

Duties of the County Treasurer include:

  • Mailing of approximately 5,000 Real Estate and Personal Property tax statements each year by March 31.

  • Collection of Real Estate taxes.

  • Mailing of Mobile Home tax statements each year by July 15.

  • Collection of Mobile Home taxes.

  • Distribution of taxes collected to taxing authorities:

    • Townships/Cities

    • School Districts

    • Watershed Districts

    • State of Minnesota

    • Headwaters Regional Development Commission

  • Work with escrow companies to maintain up to date information on taxpayers’ escrow accounts.

Real Estate and Personal Property Taxes

  To pay your property taxes you may either:

First Half:

due by May 15

 

  • Send a check, money order or certified check through the USPS in the envelope included with your tax statement. 

Please send in the appropriate stub located at the bottom of your tax statement with your payment.

  • Stop in at our counter located on the main level (level 2) of the courthouse at 311 N Main Street in Mahnomen. 

Please review your tax statements before you come, so that you know which property taxes you are paying.  Bring the statements with you as we will need the stubs located at the bottom of your statement to process your payment.

Second Half:

Non-agricultural due by October 15

Agricultural due by November 15

The Treasurer currently belongs to the following statewide and nationwide organizations and represents Mahnomen County.
