Historical Museum


The Mahnomen County Historical Society was organized in 1981. The initial goal, which still holds true today, is to "collect, preserve and interpret" artifacts, collections and information concerning the history of Mahnomen County.

  • Dottie's Flower Shop 25th Anniversary
  • Mahnomen All-School Reunion
  • Minnesota Historic Buildings- Barn Dance

Sunday, August 2, 2015: Barn Dance and Fundraiser at the Mahnomen County Fairgrounds.  Join us in the afternoon for music and refreshments!

The B. C. NESS MAHNOMEN COUNTY HISTORICAL MUSEUM contains many interesting exhibits, including:

  • Country School
  • Country Kitchen
  • Schermerborn Farms (Mahnomen County's Bonanza Farms of the early 1900's)
  • Native American exhibit
  • Agricultural display
  • Rotating displays throughout the season

Moonshine in Mahnomen County Exhibit
During the years of Prohibition, moonshining was common.  Most of the time, moonshine was made for private use.

Hours: Friday, Saturday and Sunday - Noon to 4:00 p.m.

Admission is $2. Free to members and 10-year pledge signers and their guests.
