Historical Museum


History
The Mahnomen County Historical Society was organized in 1981. The initial goal, which still holds true today, is to "collect, preserve and interpret" artifacts, collections and information concerning the history of Mahnomen County.

  • "Grandma's Apron"
    Display of assorted aprons with history and photos

The B. C. NESS MAHNOMEN COUNTY HISTORICAL MUSEUM contains many interesting exhibits, including:

  • Country School
  • Country Kitchen
  • Schermerborn Farms (Mahnomen County's Bonanza Farms of the early 1900's)
  • Native American exhibit
  • Agricultural display
  • Rotating displays throughout the season

Moonshine in Mahnomen County Exhibit
 During the years of Prohibition, moonshining was common.
Most of the time, moonshine was made for private use.
